General Recommendations: Total cure (generally 30 to 60 days) is required before painting. Alkali deposits on damp or new concrete may cause discoloration or lifting of coating. Smooth troweled concrete should be abrasive blasted to remove glaze. Some new concrete may have a sealer applied or may contain additives that accelerate hardening. Abrasive blasting may be required to paint to adhere to such surfaces.

All surfaces must be clean and dry. Any loose or peeling paint must be removed. Surface also needs to be free of grease, oil, wax or any loose deposits. Any cracks or voids need to be patched or filled prior to painting.

Acid Etching: A time-tested method for preparing bare concrete for painting. This involves using a solution of muriatic acid to clean and etch the surface. Difficulties can occur in the handling of acid. Additionally, adhesion problems can occur when acid is not completely flushed and surface not allowed to completely dry prior to painting.

Moisture-Cure (515-00) is a single package clear urethane that will dry by ambient moisture without a catalyst. Highly recommended for heavy-duty industrial floor coatings (concrete or wood), and in most cases surpasses the performance of alkyds, phenolics and epoxies. Extremely tough and flexible, this product has superior resistance to chipping and abrasion. Areas that are submitted to heavy traffic such as stores, office buildings, hospitals and factory floors are excellent applications.

PenRust Polyamide Epoxy (630 Series) is a two component system that provides a highly durable finish. Ideal as a maintenance finish for machinery, pipes or high traffic factory or garage floors.

Polyurethane Alkyd Floor & Deck Enamel (300 Series) A durable urethane-alkyd finish for interior or exterior surfaces such as concrete, wood or metal (except galvanized). Urethane increases the toughness of the film resulting in a much greater wear resistant coating. The formulation provides outstanding gloss and color retention while providing excellent flexibility. Product is formulated to withstand the severe weather conditions of the Northeast as opposed to national brands that are not designed for regional conditions.
